Choo Choo is a 1.5 year old male Border Collie Mix. He was born on July 30, 2008. Tony and I found 'Choo' in Chattanooga, Tennessee during the Skyhoundz World Championship held there in the fall of 2008. The McKamey Animal Shelter had brought in about 8 puppies, all from the same litter hoping to find adoptees during the event. I had been wanting a puppy to train for frisbee for awhile....thanks to the KCDD for getting me hooked on the sport! We had looked at many before but none seemed to be quite the right one. Then, mid morning during the event, here comes all these puppies!! Some looked like Labs, Collies, Beagles...what a mix. I took turns showing each of them to Tony and none were right. I had about given up when all of a sudden, a lady came walking across the ball field carrying the last one. People swarmed this pup! One lady held this pup for an hour!! I walked by glanced at her holding this pup and said to her, 'that looks like a keeper'. He was so cute...and oddly marked. I thought, well, she will take him home. I kinda kept my eye on them from across the field and saw her take it back to the puppy pen! I was up and out of my seat in a second...by the time I got there a little girl was holding him. I asked if she was adopting him....'no'. She handed him to me and I took him to show Tony who was probably tired of me showing him possibilities by then. I did not get my hopes up. I held him and he was sooooooo sweet and quiet. Before I knew it Tony took him and looked at him and we both fell in love with him instantly! We adopted him and brought him home. We named him Choo Choo in honor of the Chattanooga Choo Choo and the city from which he came. When we received the adoption papers he was listed as Bilbo Baggins, but the name Choo Choo stuck. Since then he has become a treasured family member along with Big Biscuit and our little Spaz dog. He is very playful and loves frisbee. He also has a great smile!! We still have much training to do but we are getting there. We rescued Choo....but more importanly....in a away....he rescued us....
